Global communications have changed the way that people communicate; therefore, globalization of the world in the last ten years has changed as well. Global communications is the process of exchanging information on a world-wide scale. This in turn has promoted globalization on many different levels, including; social, science and business.
Socially, technological advancements have changed the way we communicate. Email has grown to be the standard in written communication. It is an almost instant delivery versus writing a traditional letter and sending it through the postal service. Also, it is much easier to track and nothing will fall into the hands of the wrong person. Skype is another invention that has revolutionized our levels of communication. Skype allows us send a text message, make a phone call from our computer to another person’s phone, and allows us to have a face to face conversation via video call with people that are anywhere in the world for free. This has brought the whole world closer together with friends and family.
In science, the medical world has changed many ways because of global communications. Doctors are able to exchange different ideas about surgeries with other doctors that are anywhere in the world which allows us to have better results at any location. People are able to talk to another doctor across the world about a procedure that they have done and are able to send links to other doctors about research that they have found. Global communications have led to the creation of self help medical web sites where people can get instant information about nearly everything. Also, the technologies for saving lives have changed. Newer equipment is being used everywhere due to the ability to share knowledge worldwide. We have the ability to respond to an emergency faster than before. These are only a few ways global communications have driven a much more globalized medical advantage.
In the business world, we are able to get products out to the world faster and easier than ever before. We are able to now have a meeting on the phone with someone across the world. We are able to set up virtual private networks where many business employees can work with their fellow colleagues on a company based network even when they are on the other side of the world. We can promote items much easier through the internet allowing for easier advertising which can directly affect affordability of products. Customers can purchase most products online as well. We are able to compare many products from different companies through the internet.
In conclusion, the way that globalization has changed due to global communications is very easy to see. When looking at the different levels; social, science, and business, you are able to see a clear cut line as to how they are helping those few different components that make up part of the world-wide scale. Socially, families and friends can keep in touch with each other very easily. Scientifically, the medical world has a plethora of information available to the whole world. In business, meetings and marketing have taken great leaps due to the internet.
